Texas Pearl

San Antonio gets a big upgrade with the revitalization of The Pearl, a brewery turned hipster hangout and foodie mecca on the shores of the River Walk!

We’ve found a gem nestled along the San Antonio River Walk, and we can’t wait to share it with you.

On second thought – you probably already know what we’re talking about, especially if you’re a San Antonio native. There’s been a lot of buzz around this hot spot.

We’ve got pearl on the mind, as in The Pearl, the hippest spot in town, and the driving force behind an ongoing River Walk revival. In the midst of greasy Tex-Mex and tourist digs, The Pearl is refreshingly vibrant and authentic, and a brilliant representation of the spirit of San Antonio. They’ve got it all- a brewery, urban apartments, and a hotel (coming in 2015), not to mention restaurants and retail shops galore and the Culinary Institute of America on site. Our personal favorites? The year-round Saturday Farmer’s Market, a weekly Summer Dance Hall Series, and Saturday yoga classes at the Synergy Studio.

The Pearl is chock full of history, dating way back to 1881 when the original brewery was established on its grounds. Though Pearl beer is not currently brewed in San Antonio (the brewery, run by Pabst Brewing Company, is now located in Fort Worth, and has been since 2001), it’s still sold on site, and a smaller craft beer brewery at the Granary still exists.

The Pearl embodies what we love most about San Antonio- its culture, cuisine, and enthusiasm for life lived well- and we couldn’t be more excited to make a return visit.
