We welcome you to visit Martin Dies, Jr. State Park! Visitors can enjoy camping, hiking, boating, canoeing, fishing, swimming, mountain biking, and wildlife and bird watching.

The Walnut Slough Paddling Trail, Sandy Creek Paddling Trail and Neches Paddling Trail are three trails through and around Martin Dies, Jr. State Park that offer a variety of experiences on the park’s backwater sloughs along Spring Creek, the wide open B.A. Steinhagen Reservoir, and the fast-moving Neches River, all filled with amazing wildlife watching opportunities. Enjoy 3 to 16 miles of trails, depending on the route you choose.

The Nature Center contains numerous hands-on activities for children and adults. Programs are offered every weekend in canoeing basics, nature walks, plants, animals and other outdoor subjects and recreational activities. For information on the schedule for these activities, contact the park. Group tours are by reservation. Check the calendar for upcoming events and programs.

Nearby points of interest include Village Creek State Park; Angelina-Neches-Dam B Wildlife Management Area; winter bald eagle census conducted at the Sam Rayburn Reservoir; the Dogwood Festival held at Woodville; and a rodeo held in Jasper. In addition, the park is located approximately 30 miles from the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation, Big Thicket National Preserve, National Forest Service areas, Sam Rayburn Lake and Toledo Bend Lake.
