The Museum District is the perfect shopping destination for culture mavens. With 15 uniquely curated museum shops to choose from, the district offers everything from toys, books to jewelry and unique crafts, perfect for any occasion.
There are numerous ways to experience the Museum District. Walk, drive or hop on a train or bus. Bike enthusiasts can check out a bicycle at one of the area’s B-cycle (bike share) stations. If driving to the district, you may want to park once and walk to multiple museums to take in the scenery. We’ve clustered museums by proximity into zones making our walkable district easier to navigate.
Don’t want to explore alone? Instead of wandering through an exhibit on your own, opt for a guided tour and get the real story from an expert. With a phone call or an email a few days in advance, you can set up a tour at virtually every destination.
Want to enjoy a smaller grouping of museums in one day? The Houston Museum District presents quarterly cultural block parties called the Museum Experience, that feature a handful of museums at a time on the last Saturday of January, April, July and September. Visit our website for the latest event schedule.
Make culture a regular thing. A day or night spent in the Houston Museum District makes for a special treat. It’s easy to do – 10 of the museums are always free and the others offer dedicated times for free general admission. Check the free admission page for details. Sign up for our e-newsletter to find your daily inspiration. When you are here, let us know by using #houmuse or #museumexperience. See you in the District!
