Grab your sombreros and dancing shoes, it’s time to celebrate. Just in time for the festivities of Mothers’ Day and Cinco de Mayo is the Mariachi Loco Music Festival. This is a weekend-long festival located in the core of downtown El Paso at the San Jacinto Plaza. Between May 6-8, the city will be consumed with tacos and tequila galore to accompany guests as they admire some of the most well known Mariachi of the southwest.
Aida Cuevas, named the queen of Mariachi, will be performing. There will be a tribute to Cuevas during the festival to honor her role in Mariachi entertainment. Sebastien De La Cruz, who appeared on the America’s Got Talent television show and sang the National Anthem at the NBA Finals, is another performance on the lineup. Don’t miss out on the performance given by Gerardo Fierro, who was named the Southwest’s most prestigious Mariachi artist.
To celebrate and embrace the culture of Mariachi, vendors, local and from afar, will be serving festival-goers their delicious cuisine. Tequila and beer will be served as well. During the festival vendors will showcase and sell their art and jewelry. For the second year, Folkloric dance professional ropers and imitators will be making an appearance.
For three-day general admission, tickets are $30. One-day admission tickets are $10 on Friday and $15 on Saturday and Sunday.
