The 13th East Austin Studio Tour (EAST) is well underway and is generating lots of buzz in the Austin arts and culture scene! EAST is a free, self-guided tour dedicated to showcasing the craft of unique artists in Austin through studios, exhibitions, and events, all housed throughout the character-packed neighborhoods of east Austin. The first weekend of EAST was a huge success, attracting patrons of the arts both locally and nationally. For those of you who couldn’t make it to the capital last weekend, not to worry, because EAST continues this Saturday and Sunday (November 20-21), too.
If you’re new to EAST, perhaps the best place to start exploring is at the EAST Group Exhibition, located at 1501 E 6th. With over 250 artists showcasing their work in many media styles, the Group Exhibition is sure to give you a representative sample of everything EAST has to offer. It runs during the week, too, so you can visit early and map out everything you want to see this weekend.
Be sure to pick up a beautiful EAST catalog and map at one of the Austin Public Library locations, or you can view a digital version here. This collector-worthy guide will help you plan your weekend and remember your EAST experience forever.
