This town was established in 1849 by a group of German intellectuals who wanted to form their own Utopia-like settlement. With events such as Market Days, Berges Fest, the Kendall County Fair, Key to the Hills Rod Run, Dickens on Main, and the Weihnachts Festival, there’s never a dull weekend. Don’t miss the Cibolo Nature Center or nearby hiking trails. Boerne’s early days are revisited at both the Agriculture Heritage Center and the Kuhlmann-King Historical House. Catch a summertime show by the Boerne Village Band, the country’s oldest continuously active German band, for a taste of the Hill Country’s German-Texan culture.
